AMY'S STORY

"Last year I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Weekly Reiki Treatments at Saltwater Studio became my haven in the chaos. Having never had Reiki before, I was unsure of what to expect. Initially it was a time for me to just breathe and be… in between all the invasive treatments, appointments, kids and work but as time progressed, I could feel the healing energy surrounding me. It was the thing that got me through.

Physically and mentally, I felt sustained, nurtured and empowered that I could contribute to my own healing through the support I received. I honestly cannot imagine how I would have got through that time otherwise. The ongoing Reiki sessions really helped me to combat the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments and offered me a calm and safe space to just land. A place where I could set down my load, even for a short time, so that when I picked it up again, I felt stronger and more ready to face the days and weeks ahead.

Since completing Breast Cancer treatment, I have gone on to study Reiki and have attained my Level 1 Reiki Certification training with Beth at Saltwater Studio. I continue to integrate Reiki into my daily self-care plan".  Amy has worked in the health industry for over 20 years and is currently taking some time for herself and her own healing. She is currently offering Reiki Treatments through Saltwater Studio, to support women in our local community whose lives have also been affected by Breast Cancer.

Are words or a set of actions that are performed to honour or celebrate something or someone special.  They provide a sense of structure and meaning, allowing the opportunity to acknowledge the thoughts, feelings and emotions that are surfacing, to be expressed and released in a safe and supported way. Personalised ceremony or ritual, set with the intention for healing is incredibly powerful. It can help to invoke a sense of personal acceptance and offer healing to begin.

HEAD SHAVING CEREMONY

Saltwater Studio aims to provide caring and gentle support, offering professional hairdressing services to help you transition through your hair loss journey with dignity and compassion. We can organise a professional hairdresser for you or you can book your own. Alternatively you can invite a family member or someone special to perform the head shaving ceremony for you. The salon space is intimate, comfortable, calm and private, to ensure that confidentiality and privacy is maintained, allowing the time and space for you to do it your way – surrounded by your favourite flowers, music and more.

We understand that losing your hair is a very scary side effect of chemotherapy. At Saltwater Studio we invite women to feel empowered in their choices and to tackle hair loss on their own terms, surrounded by those they love.
